Nigerian youths have been charged to make use of the nation's recently rebased Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which placed Nigeria as the nation with the largest economy in Africa and 26th in the world as announced few days ago, to better their lots. The Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Education in the State of Osun, Mrs. Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, gave this charge as a guest lecturer at the conferment of an Award of Excellence on Professor Afolabi Ojo, the founding father of the Department of Geography, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife tagged; The Role of Geography in Contemporary Nigerian Society which held at the University campus. In her speech titled: Recognition as Motivation, Mrs. Laoye-Tomori urged every young university lecturer to emulate Professor Ojo in the discharge of his/her duties, to display leadership traits together with commitments to service, stating further that, a day for being rewarded like Professor Ojo is just around the corner.
