BALLON D'OR; Eight Premiership Players Nominated.........The Names Will Surprise You

Eight Premiership players have been listed in the 30 names released for the likely winner of this year Ballon d' or.

Leicester City heroes Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, stars in their team’s fairytale run to the Premier League title, have also been named on a 30-player longlist for the 2016 Ballon d’Or.

The first Ballon d’Or was won by Stanley Matthews, at the time with Blackpool, who beat Alfredo Di Stefano for the inaugural title in 1956.

The most suprising part of this year award, is that Vardy — who has enjoyed a meteoric rise from amateur football to rub shoulders with the game’s biggest names — is the sole Englishman nominated for the prestigious prize.

The winner will be determined by a vote of journalists — national team captains and managers will no longer have a say after the ending of the five-year deal between France Football and FIFA.

FBI: Clinton's New Emails Prompt Further Investigation

The FBI on Friday informed Congress it has reopened its review of White House frontrunner Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email server when she was secretary of state and to know whether there is classified information in new emails that have emerged in its prob. The FBI had said in July its investigation was finished but reopened the investigation after discovering new mails “that appear to be pertinent.” The disclosure raises the possibility of the FBI reopening the criminal investigation involving the Democratic presidential nominee just days before the election, although it is not clear if that will happen.

How Ilorin Rose Against Saraki With Stones And Chants Of Thief! Thief!!, By Jogbojogbo Abdulrahman

Today, the Muslim Ummah celebrated. Today, in Ilorin, the Eid organisers disappointed and displayed colossal incompetence. Today, Mr. Saraki was humiliated. All around the world, Muslims celebrated and gathered at several Eid grounds to worship. It was no different in Ilorin, home to great Islamic scholars. What was different however, was that for the first time in recent history, the organisation was so bad that many people left without praying. People far off from the Imam could not link up to him as a result of bad/insufficient speakers. The disappointment I felt is the same the man beside me must have felt when shortly before the prayers he was lamenting: “First, they said, we were uneducated, so we went to school. Now that we’ve gone to school, there are no jobs for us. The few that have jobs have not been paid for monthsShortly after the prayers, I noticed commotion. There were water sachets and stones flying in the air – all directed at the direction whe...

Change Agents In An Emerging Democratic Process (4)

Forward To A Permanent Revolution In Osun In the two years of Aregbesola administration, much has been achieved in respect of restoration of order, high moral values and responsible governance. The positive impact of probity and democratic accounting is being felt by the electorates who were hitherto victims of the corrupt and greedy administrators,. The revolutionary mission of the government is enunciated in the six-point programs of banishing poverty, hunger, and unemployement, restoring quality life, promoting functional education and communal peace. The prudent management of public resources is exemplified in the three fold increase in internal generated revenue from about N200m to N600m in two years.
