Osun PDP Guber Election; Osun Assembly Charges Gov Aregbesola

The state of Osun House of Assembly has called on Governor Rauf Aregbesola to petition the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)at the appropriate quarters, over the recklesness and exesses exhibited by the party's stalwarts at its gubernatorial primary election last weekend.

Speaking on behalf of the honourable members who had earlier strongly condemned the act at a plenary session, the Speaker, RT Hon Najeem Salaam described the incident where a former Governor of the state was openly molested as unfortunate.

He said the ugly incident is an indication that certain elements in the Party are out to truncate the peaceful athmosphere which had hiterto been in existence since inception of the present administration in the state.

While promising that the present administration will do everything possible to resist lawlesness, the Speaker called on the Federal Government to call police to order, saying police should not be partisan but rather be a party to the sustenance of the existing peace in the state.

A total of five bills were also passed for first reading during the sitting after motions were properly moved.

The bills include; The state of Osun University Establishment Fund bill,The State of Osun Primary Health Care Development Board bill,The State of osun Tertiary Institution Retirement Age bill, The State of Osun Partnership bill and The State of Osun Special Offences Corps bill

The disappointment I felt is the same the man beside me must have felt when shortly before the prayers he was lamenting: “First, they said, we were uneducated, so we went to school. Now that we’ve gone to school, there are no jobs for us. The few that have jobs have not been paid for monthsShortly after the prayers, I noticed commotion. There were water sachets and stones flying in the air – all directed at the direction whe...

Change Agents In An Emerging Democratic Process (4)

Forward To A Permanent Revolution In Osun In the two years of Aregbesola administration, much has been achieved in respect of restoration of order, high moral values and responsible governance. The positive impact of probity and democratic accounting is being felt by the electorates who were hitherto victims of the corrupt and greedy administrators,. The revolutionary mission of the government is enunciated in the six-point programs of banishing poverty, hunger, and unemployement, restoring quality life, promoting functional education and communal peace. The prudent management of public resources is exemplified in the three fold increase in internal generated revenue from about N200m to N600m in two years.
