AREGBESOLA GETS NOD FOR SECOND TERM

The Governor of the State of Osun, Mr. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, has been unanimously returned as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Osun gubernatorial election slated for August 9, 2014.

Governor Aregbesola, who is eyeing his second shot in the governorship seat of the state, received an overwhelming support across the thirty Local Government Areas and Ife East Area Office of the state emerging as the consensus candidate of the party.

In his acceptance speech titled: Building a New Nigeria, Governor Rauf Aregbesola thanked members of the party for the confidence they repose in his government saying his second term in office will open a new
vista for the state of Osun.

Governor Aregbesola, who said the rebuilding process of a new Nigeria should be vital to any responsible, responsive and courageous leader in the country today, said APC will cause a monumental change at the
federal level of the country come 2015 considering the array of eminent political gladiators within the part together with the overwhelming support the party enjoys across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

According to the governor, the seven and the half years reign of PDP in the State of Osun virtually crippled the state in all facets of human life but the people voted him as the one to deliver the state from its precarious state at the time but wish of the people was frustrated.

"In 2007, the party frustrated our efforts but on the 26th of November, 2010, the Appeal Court sitting in Ibadan restored the hope of Osun people by declaring us the winner of the April 2007 gubernatorial election in the state. This is a great victory for our nascent democracy."

"From 1999, PDP has robbed our nation that we now amount to nothing in the comity of nations. Nigeria that is destined to deliver Africa from the era of under development is now at comatose. Therefore, the quest
of putting an end to PDP continued reign in Nigeria come February 2015 commences with the Osun gubernatorial election come August 9, 2014."

He said if voted in as governor for the second term in the State of Osun, he has been given the mandate to complete all his ongoing people's oriented projects embarked upon by his administration while new ones will spring up.

According to Governor Aregbesola, leadership is all about rendering service to the people and this is the hallmark of APC as a party saying the party leadership will not stop at ensuring that dividends of democracy is delivered not only to the good people of the State of Osun, but to all Nigerians as a whole.

The Governor said his six integral action plan to banish hunger, banish poverty, provide employment opportunity, provide good health care services, maintain communal peace and improve on the economy of
the State of Osun will be given more priority with new innovations introduced and promoted as the second phase of his administration commences soon.

Speaking on APC plans for Nigerians if elected winner of the February 2015 Presidential elections, Governor Aregbesola said; "Security of lives and property will be restored in Nigeria within our first 6
months in office, Nigerians will start to enjoy stable power supply within our first 180 days in office, poverty will be eradicated, food supply will be abundance.

He therefore appreciated party leaders and faithful followers for their unalloyed supports to his administration saying they are the reason for his success in office in the last three and half years.

Urging the people to come out en-masse and cast their votes for him in the August 9, 2014 gubernatorial election in Osun, Governor Aregbesola said; "your supports for me can only be meaningful when you come out and cast your votes for APC on Election Day. While the elders are expected to vote and return home to await the announcement of the result, everyone from 50years downward is expected to remain at
polling booths until results are collated, counted and announced at each polling booth. We must ensure the safety of our votes from the polling station to collating centers."

Responding to a statement credited to the National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmadu Mua'zu, that 'it is difficult but not impossible to unseat Aregbesola in Osun', Governor
Aregbesola said; "it is difficult and impossible to unseat Aregbesola in Osun."

Declaring the result of the nomination congress, Chairman of the Osun APC Governorship Primary Committee and former FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, said all the 269, 631 party members who participated in the primary election, out of the 355,729 eligible members, voted YES for Governor Aregbesola.

Mallam El-Rufai, who described the governorship primary nomination as evidence to the yeoman performances of Mr. Aregbesola as Governor of the State of Osun, said APC as a political party is proud to have Aregbesola as the party's representative in the state saying Nigerian and African leaders should endeavor to borrow a leaf from his people's oriented leadership trait.

Speaking on Aregbesola's legacies, the former Minister said; "By the special grace of God after APC form the government at the federal level by 2015, we are going to adopt O-Meal, OYES and Opon-Imo across
the nation to give better living condition to Nigerians as Aregbesola has done for the people of Osun.
According to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Osun APC Gubernatorial primary election was held peacefully in all the 332 wards across the thirty Local Government Areas and the Ife East Area Office of the state.

High point of the day was the presentation of Governor Rauf Aregbesola as the APC gubernatorial candidate in the August 9, 2014 governorship election in the State of Osun to party members across the state and the presentation of certificate of return to the governor.

Present at the event were the state's Deputy Governor, Mrs. Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, members of the state's House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salam, APC National Assembly member from Osun, members of APC National Working Committee, APC State Working Committee led by the Interim Chairman of the party in the state, Elder Adebiyi Adelowo, members of the state Executive Council and members of the APC Osun Governorship Primary State Collation Officers led by its Chairman, Professor Siyan Oyeweso.
