RAMP CAN HELP IN BOOSTING THE ECONOMY -Aregbesola.



The Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP) has been described as a means of creating a peaceful coexistence among Nigerians as well as boosting the economy if handled with commitment.
This was the view of the Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola at the opening of a 3-day Workshop on 'Message Development, Review, Testing and Harmonization on RAMP Communications' for all the six States involved in the project.

Ogbeni Aregbesola ,who was represented at the programme by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mushood Adeoti stated further that it is a good way of extending development to the rural communities while increasing their access to social and physical infrastructure.

He stressed  that through RAMP, more communities in need of development will be reached easily and thereby encourage more people to retire to their rural communities as they will have access to basic ammenities which are only present in cities.

While appreciating RAMP for assisting the government in developing all parts of the state, the state helmsman charged the participants at the workshop to make good use of the opportunity so as to take something positive home.

Present at the occasion were Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Resources, Rural Development and Community Affairs, Hon Adekunle Ige, National Project Coordinator - Engr Ubandoma Ularanu, Chairman Osun SPMC -Engr Nurudeen Adeagbo, -Osun Project Coordinator- Engr Adelere Oriolowo, Permanent Secretaries and Directors.

Twenty five years ago judgment was passed by Justice Auta to hang famous Nigerian writer, Ken Saro-Wiwa and since then the man has been living and rising in his career forgetting that one day nemesis will surely catch up on him. Tope Tomekun wrote about the ugly death of Ken Saro-Wiwa and the nemesis befalling the man who decide his fate. The day was Friday, November 10, 1995! It was a black Friday in Ogoni land and in Nigeria among good men. It took five attempts to hang Ken Saro-Wiwa before the Nigerian writer spoke his last words and his body went limp.  "Lord take my soul, but the struggle continues," were his last words that Friday morning, blindfolded and dangling from a rope.
