Re: – Bukola Saraki: As I Appear Before The CCT, By Alhassan Dambatta

A tweet purportedly made by Senate president Bukola Saraki, published by eagle online have further exposed the narrow mind of the senate president who failed whooply to address the basic issue generating serious concern.

He started the tweet with the following quoted statement which only exposed his myopic shortsightness, avoiding and refusing to address the real issue that have generated serious brouhaha within the Nigerian political landscapeBukola Saraki said “My appearance in court today once again demonstrates my belief in the rule of law and respect for the judiciary of our country.” While Saraki is free to verbally vomit whatever he felt could be helpful to confuse those that are yet to grasp the ordeal Saraki went through at the code of conduct tribunal, what we rather saw was entirely the opposite of what Saraki was broadcasting to the public. We only saw Saraki running away from the law, showing up at the tribunal only when he realised that all possible options for soft landing have been exusted and the beating about the bush had to stop.

What we understand from Saraki’s actions towards his arreingment at the tribunal was his bare face insult and desecration of the law of the land and total disrespect to the judiciary for refusing to honour an invitation to clear himself from allegations of improper declaration of his assets as required and compelled by the constitution.

Senator Bukola Saraki further states that, ” As I stated while taking the plea in the case, I reiterate my belief that the only reason why I am going through this trial is because I am Senate President.” No Bukola, it is not true, you were put through this trial because the compelling evidence available to the court suggested that you are a criminal, though you are just an accused, the court process will surely strip you naked in the near future and it seems you will be found wanting and guilty for all the 13 count charges that were the onus for you arreingment.

Saraki believed that If he were to be just a Senator, he said he  doubted if anybody will be interested in the asset declaration form he filled over twelve years ago. With these Saraki is suggesting that a crime he committed 12 years ago should be a bygone issue, that any attempt to unearthed his crime of 12years is a witch hunt. Our question to the senate president is, who did he think is the witch and who is the hunter? for sure we know that if there is witch there won’t be the witch hunter.

Additionally, Saraki believed that due process has not been observed, because he said in his official tweet  “If the CCB had followed the guidelines, procedure or the due process provided in its own law, we won’t be having this trial” what? so Bukola means that the CCB should just close shop, ahh!  so the tribunal is a contradiction, if its own procedure and process can stop its function, then what use do the tribunal has to stop corrupt people like you ? a man who knows the way to make an anticipatory criminality is a very dangerous man.

Bukola not knowing change is already in place tweeted that, “the executive, legislature and judiciary should do the right thing that will truly demonstrate that we have imbibed the spirit of positive change”. Kai! this man is seems blind, if not, what positive change is Saraki talking about, what positive change is better than the change that ensures Saraki the senate president, (the third in the hierarchy) is taken to court for criminality?.

After gaining a bail application, Saraki first thanked his colleagues, the 50 senators, and his counsel who fought on his behalf at the tribunal, forgetting to thank the people first before he thanked his bunch of corrupt supporters in senators clothing.

While Saraki have promised to clear his name in due course, we Nigerians only sees the potential that Saraki may end up in prison as a convicted criminal.

The Questions Of Insecurity In Nigeria

Insecurity in Nigeria has posed a national questions in which up till this moment no formidable answer has been provided. If Britain had failed to proffer solution to insecurity challenges in the country before independence and Nigeria rulers failed to do this after almost 53 years of independence (1960-2013), something is definitely wrong with the approach so far. Does it not occur to the president that we should get back to the drawing board? Safeguarding the sovereign, independence and territorial integrity of the state was the central pillar of Nigeria national security policy. Other guiding principles were Africa unity and independence, non-intervention in internal affairs of other states, and regional economic development and security cooperation. Subordinate goals included military self-sufficiency and regional leadership. In pursuing these goals, Nigeria was diplomatic and flexible, but it employed coercive method or measured force when necessary. Nigeria , was
